The BDEM project kick-off meeting held in Norway

Our new INTPART funded "Big Data and Emergency Management" project kick-off meeting took place on 25th -26th April 2017 at Sogndal, Norway.   Partners from four partner countries came together in order to initiate the work in BDEM project with ambitious objectives. In attendance were members of the eight Partner institutions. This meeting was the first face to face Meeting of the consortium. During the second part of the meeting,  the team started laying the foundations for the development of WP2 (Education) to ensure the achievement of the outputs. The second part of the meeting took place in the Department of Information Science and Media Studies at the University of Bergen on 28th April 2017. Several practical issues related to curriculum plan and student mobility were discussed.

The BDEM aims to increase the quality and relevance of  cooperation with partner institutions, particularly through integration of the higher education and research components, and it is open to cooperation with innovation and public sector actors of relevance to the project.

On 26th April 2017 the project owner WNRI hosted a social reception for the BDEM team. This provided an opportunity for the team members to interact with executives of local public sector organisations.

After this meeting, the team have been committed to working together using virtual meetings until the next Face to Face meeting, which will take place in Bergen, November 2017 as part of the WP3 (Research) activity.
